All Behavior Matters: What Counts as Challenging Behavior and for Who?
May 24, 8:30am-12:00pm
We have heard that all behavior matters and that all behavior is communication.
Yet we often get stuck when a behavior is labeled as challenging.
When we do this, we should dig deeper and determine who is challenged by the behavior:
- Is it challenging for the person exhibiting the behavior?
- Is it challenging for people in charge of a group?
- Is it challenging for people around the person?
At this gathering, participants will be given the opportunity to step back and examine how our own beliefs, training, and attitudes can lead to a behavior being classified as challenging.

File: Resources-Shared-for-the-good-of-all.docxAt each Community of Practice, we ask the community to let each other know of upcoming events, trainings or offering related to the Community of Practice on Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental Disabilities. These are gathering into a resource sheet and posted with any available recordings.
Join us for an event focused on Early Identification and Autism, where we’ll explore important ways to support people on the Autism Spectrum.
We’ll talk about the barriers families and professionals often face, but also highlight innovative strategies to improve identification and care.
We’ll cover care navigation, making it easier to connect with the support you need.
Finally, we’ll discuss ways to tackle social communication challenges at home and school.
